Project Description

Mary Novak at The Laughing Mermaid wanted a bold design with bright colors to go with her whimsical logo and to stand out in a crowd. We had fun choosing a color palette for her impressive line of cosmetics–these labels are just a few samples from her product lines. She also approached me about doing a business card to match her labels, as well as a rack card, with an emphasis on bold color and whimsical, fun design. The ads are also to match, and are mostly to thank customers for voting her business in the Mountain XPress “Best of WNC” yearly competition.

She officially went into retirement in 2017, but since then has ramped up her wholesale business, and so also commissioned a postcard insert to accompany wholesale orders. Since she no longer had a shop downtown and was targeting boutiques, she moved away from the tie dye and started using more watercolor for backgrounds.
